An Oregon jury found that Wal-mart had a practice of making employees work 'off the clock' in violation of wage and hour laws. The AP story in the
Austin American Statesman gives a few of the details. Damages will be decided in a subsequent trial. The size of potential awards, and the difficulty of defending against such claims in a class action proceeding, have made this type of claim one of the most dangerous for employers this decade.
