An early Christmas present for the accounting firm of BDO Seidman came in the form of a decision upholding their arbitration scheme with a departing partner. Under the accounting firm's program, the pool of arbitrators was limited to partners in the firm. The intermediate appellate court in Connecticut used a standard requiring more than the appearance of bias, but less than actual bias.
Hottle v. BDO Seidman (Conn. App. 12/24/02).
