At least one group did. When a group of nurses at Stroger Hospital in Chicago couldn't understand their paycheck stubs, they sought a lawyer's advice. In addition to clarification, the lawyer also determined that they had not been paid properly for overtime. The net result, a $4 million settlement of the wage and hour class action case according to a
story in Crain's Chicago Business. At least this employer can sleep easier in the future as one of the conditions of the settlement was a redesign of the check stub so it can be better understood. While it seems rather simple, one thing that employees are keenly interested in is their paycheck and the employer who isn't careful with the details concerning paychecks is asking for closer scrutiny.
